Will Israeli Annexation of Gaza Stop Unnecessary Bloodshed?

bibi-and-el-sisi-300x139The tragedy of lost lives and personal anguish in Gaza has been well-documented in the US mainstream media’s nightly account of the conflict between Hamas and Israel.  Benjamin Netanyahu asks Americans to imagine what they would do if a steady stream of missiles were striking everywhere, especially if the launching pads were deliberately located in civilian apartments and hospitals.  Simply pulling back by agreeing to a cease fire isn’t an option that will curtail future bloodshed.  The thorn will still be in the flesh.

In his article “Israel should Annex Gaza and Judea and Samaria” Peter Paton is a continuing voice that argues that now is right time to annex Gaza.   He cites Israel’s ancient roots in the region, but it is clear that he has a sympathetic eye on the anguish that Palestinian people are enduring as pawns of a Hamas that will pay any price to foment its ideological extremes.

A joint Israel-Egypt border is a peacekeeper’s dream, Paton seems to argue: “Egypt under President El Sisi is fighting a common enemy with Hamas who are the military wing of the Muslim Brotherhood, and other Iranian Terrorist proxies, and the Egyptian President would arguably not be adverse to Israel annexing the Gaza Strip.”  Now is the optimum time, not decades later while more civilians are slaughtered unnecessarily.
