Election Reflection

The Mid Term elections are over.

As expected, the Republicans took control of the Senate with a comfortable margin, contrary to what the fear-mongering political operatives were telling us in order for their candidates to win.

There were some who suggested I ran because of my “ego” or for personal gain.  They couldn’t have missed it more completely.

My run for the US Senate didn’t capture a Senate seat.  Not surprising really, given about 4 1/2 months to campaign with very little money.

My short campaign was, however, successful in some other areas.  It forced into the open many people and organizations who claim to represent conservative Christian principles… but quickly abandon those principles whenever it becomes politically expedient.  It also further demonstrated to me that there are significantly principled people on both sides of the isle who desperately want what is best for future generations of Americans.

I continue to be encouraged wherever I go as people thank me for running.  I am regularly greeted in public places with an enthusiastic “I voted for you”.  Even people who voted for the “other guy” did so begrudgingly for fear of Obama and Reid.

It is becoming increasingly evident that there is a significant contingent of Americans who have been driven from both political parties by self-serving politicians and organizations.  The number of people who are seriously looking for a viable “third” alternative is larger than I would have expected.  That could prove to be problematic for Republicans if they blow the opportunity given to them by voters in these most recent mid-term elections.

You might wonder how I could be encouraged, energized… even excited about a distant fourth place finish in the election.  This message is one of many that reflects what I am hearing everywhere I go.  It speaks to the reality, that while I didn’t win the Senate seat, I did what I believe God sent me to do.

Dearest Gordon,

I have been meaning to text you since Thanksgiving. My mother who is 86 told me that for the first time in her life she didn’t vote for a Democrat. She didn’t vote for Obama in either term. She just refused to vote for lack of a good alternative. She is ailing and well prepared to go home to heaven. She said for the first time she felt she had a good choice in voting for you. She said she felt happy that she could face God and say she voted for life, righteousness, and good. She said even if you didn’t win she has won the victory when answering God for her choices. I am not sure you even realize the impact of your having run the race. I know God will look at you and say, ” Well done, My good and faithful servant:”  there are occasions in our life that may seem insignificant or even as a loss, but in the eternal court of heaven carry great and significant weight. To have the ability to vote, not out of fear or compromise, was a great privilege.

God has given you the power of voice and words and I know He is far from done with His call on your life. Be blessed Gord0n and know with great certainty that your actions were not in vain. They have had far greater consequences than you could possibly imagine.

Now, on to the next mission…

I am building an office/studio at the ranch, with meeting facilities for 30 +/- people.  The new mission is still a secret, but the objective of advancing conservative Christian principles will continue to be front and center.  Stay tuned.
