Jackley Accused Of Overkill On Bosworth Prosecution

The President of a Washington foundation called Attorney General Jackley’s pursuit of Annette Bosworth “Draconian”.

Paul Jacobs, of Citizens in Charge said he could find no other case in America with such heavy-handed prosecution, according to the Argus Leader report.

Really???  That’s what South Dakotans have been saying for some time.  The potential of 24 years in prison, $48,000 in fines and the loss of her license to practice medicine.  All this for what most people view as a minor infraction of petition law.  The 37 signatures at the center of this controversy were all legitimate, registered voters.  They each signed of their own free will.  The Bosworth “crime” is that she followed the advice of her legal council and verified that, as the circulator of the petition, she had witnessed each of these people weight losssigning.  She was apparently not present when they actually signed the petition, a practice commonly used by many other politicians at events like Lincoln Day Dinners and other political events.

So why the seemingly obvious overkill on prosecuting Bosworth?  It is a question Attorney General Jackley prefers to deflect.  When asked, he says he believes Bosworth has been treated very fair.  One might question Jackley’s definition of ‘fair’.  He is very aware that if he is able to achieve a conviction on a felony, Bosworth will lose her license to practice medicine.  Fair?  Just?  Reasonable?

Bosworth charges should be reduced to misdemeanors, and Jackley should get on with more important business.

“Could find no other case in America with such heavy handed prosecution”? Really?
This crook Marty Jackley charged my wife and I with 30 felony counts of child abuse (300 years each if convicted on all charges) and then three months later dropped all charges leaving our family emotionally and financially destroyed!!! So you may want to look a little harder Paul Jacobs.

Annette Bosworth is no victim in this matter; however, Jackley is continuing on a corrupt path of using his office to go after political opponents.

Annette knowingly committed perjury. The fact that her dishonest lawyer was involved does not absolve her of her own dishonesty. Let’s nor forget that many of us rightfully got out the pitchforks and torches when Bill Clinton committed perjury when he lied in a civil suite about having sex with Monica Lewinsky. He came close to being impeached, and rightfully so.

Annette has shown a long track record of being involved with dishonest criminal actions, the multimillion dollar housing mortgage scam in Utah, the raffle scams here in SD, the medicare billing case, and now this perjury with her nomination petitions.

Until she was recruited to run for the US Senate by Rounds’ supporters Joel Arends & Dan Lederman, she was not involved in any conservative efforts in SD. She is reputed to have been pro-choice, supportive of Obamacare (received an award from Obama), and liberal on numerous issues to include collaborating with Steve Hilldebrand on liberal issues.

Everything I have seen so far is that she is a liability to the conservative movement in SD and has latched onto the kindness of such people for her own gain. Every second of attention, every $ given her, takes away from support of legitimate conservatives we desperately need in SD politics.

If more people were prosecuted to the “full extent of the law”, instead of just getting a slap on the hands, maybe this wouldn’t seem so out of line.

Wonder if the real issue is not the violation of the petition law…
