The Only Way To Live

Life for me is more than all things natural…

… but in order to be complete must be understood from the perspective of and lived fully in the Spirit. Someone once said that ultimate wisdom or understanding is when one is able to put complicated matters together with the mind of Christ. When that is done then the three elements of who you are (body, soul, spirit) come together as God intended and your life is enriched beyond measure.

So what evidence is there that we are living a spiritual life and not just a natural life as we are told in Romans 6:1-15. A life that is truly victorious and free from sin. This life begins, as Romans chapter 6 goes on to say, by becoming obedient to what is expected of a righteous lifestyle. That means we are to be spiritually (not carnally) minded which gives us a life of peace (Romans 8:6). Indeed if we take away the concerns over that which man tells us is necessary for “the good life” and focus instead on the eternal then life truly seems blessed. This can only happen when we are possessed by the Spirit of God (vs. 9) and being possessed the Holy Spirit through us will give testimony of God and His love.

Others will see evidence for God in our lives as we “work in the Spirit (Galatians 5:16)”. That means through us others will know God as we live lives displaying the fruits of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, etc.) found in vs. 22-23. We can live this lifestyle as we will know our names are written in the ‘Book of Life’ spoken of in Philippians 4:3.

So let us grow in this new found life drinking the pure milk of God’s Word living lives of love as spoken of in 1 John 3:14 both here and in the hereafter for truly that is THE ONLY WAY TO LIVE.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY: A spiritual life is filled with light and the love of God.

DEVOTIONAL VERSE FOR TODAY: 1 John 3:14 “evidence for a spiritual life lived out”.

PRAYER FOR TODAY: Lord lead me in living a life filled with the Spirit.

QUESTIONS TO THINK ABOUT:

  1. What evidence is there you are living a spiritual life?
  2. Do you wrestle with a spiritual and carnal mind?
  3. How can one become victorious over a carnal mind?
  4. Are you ‘possessed’ in the Christian understanding of the word?                                                                                                                                                      *** Gary Jerke *** Is a  former State Representative, author and Life and Liberty News contributor
