Terrorist attacks in France should be a huge warning to America.
The Obama administration continues full speed ahead with plans to bring thousands of Syrians to the USA. They assure us that they are extensively vetting these immigrants. If you believe that, you probably voted for Obama… TWICE!
One way to curtail this infusion of Muslims is for Governors to follow the lead of Alabama Governor Robert Bentley. He announced yesterday that he would refuse to take any of the Syrian refugees scheduled for relocation in Alabama. He had this to say about his decision:
“The acts of terror committed over the weekend are a tragic reminder to the world that evil exists and takes the form of terrorists who seek to destroy the basic freedoms we will always fight to preserve. I will not stand complicit to a policy that places the citizens of Alabama in harm’s way.”
South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard should do the same.
Please write or call Governor Daugaard and tell him to keep South Dakota safe, and refuse to accept any Syrian refugees.

If the refugees are allowed to come, no state resources should be used for them. In respect for our veterans and the victims in France, SD citizens should not provide shelter, food, or clothing to these people. Worry about our reservations and our people before any refugees.
We have enough troubles in the education, drugs With …. . our children without the Syrian which a few know a lot about bombs. We have to much trouble keeping the law for all of South Dakota.

We are not prepared to host Syrian Refugees. Please do not allow them into our state. Our federal government has not done enough to screen and assess these people. Many of our communities do not have law enforcement in their towns or communities. I speak for a town that does not have its own law enforcement yet alone any type of task force that is prepared to deal with terrorists or the potential for them. Reconsider your stand and follow the red states.
Deny the “refugees” keep our state and families safe!!

I have been reading these post that people have left and following the news, and doing some research on my own about isis and these refugees. I along with 90% of the south dakota population will agree that bringing these refugees to our beloved state is a terrible idea. Isis has our home grown military members on their kill list, please vote against bringing this terrorist organization to our state.
First I would like to start by saying it’s ridiculous but I had to put my email address into leave you a reply and secondly I don’t believe you should You are even a creditable reporter where’d you get your degree! I don’t kno how you were raised but as the sixth generation in South Dakota I was raised that we helped thy neighbor. Looks like we’re just gonna sit back and allow people to be murdered and treated like they aren’t humans but wait that’s what we are letting happened to our state turn your head and don’t look. wow I bet our grandparents and the veterans that fought for this country are probably all turning over in their graves really. So glad We as a people act like we care until it actually counts then we shut the door in people’s faces and say go away we don’t want your problems. What do people think our military ( your sons,daughters,fathers, husbands,wives,cousins) aren’t going to be checking every refugee that they are trying to bring here to make sure there are no threats. Or do you people have that little of faith that they can! Great to see the support that our troops will do what’s right. How do I respond to such a…..rambling, incoherent post? First, the reason your insert your name and e-mail address is to thwart spam-bots from infecting the thread. Second, not a single person, especially Gordon Howie is suggesting that these people receive NO help. Mr. Howie repeats what every governor has already stated….that we do not trust the federal government to thoroughly vet these people. After all, they “thoroughly” vetted the Syrian freedom fighters and after spending $500 million of our tax dollars, ended up with a grand total of 5 trained soldiers.
Third, these people AREN’T our neighbors. Our neighbors are the people living in South Dakota who wake up in poverty every morning. Our neighbors are the Native Americans on the reservations in our state who have lived in a state of poverty for GENERATIONS. Remember, we have 5 of the top 10 poorest counties in the entire nation! Our neighbors are the veterans in our state who need medical attention from a feckless, broken VA system, but are unable to receive it. In short, we simply do not have the resources to “help” ourselves adequately, much less everyone on the planet.
Another issue which you may not have bothered to consider is that the Syrian “refujihadists” (I refuse to call them refugees until we are certain that they aren’t terrorists) have a considerably lower standard of living than do we. Many of these people have never lived in a home with a floor made of anything other than dirt or clay. They are also largely uneducated and certainly do not speak English. Have you considered that they will be supremely uncomfortable here and that the sheer cost of housing, clothing, feeding and educating them will be taken from the scarce resources already allocated to our own citizens and teachers?
No, I doubt that you’ve considered ANY of these factors whilst penning your assault on Mr. Howie. Take some time, read the responses from the governors and others, deliberate on just how negatively attempting to take care of these people will impact your friends and neighbors and generally educate yourself on the topic. South Dakotans are not uncaring or unsympathetic to the plight of these people. However, South Dakotans are pragmatic people and know that accepting people whom we are ill prepared to care for is unwise.

Please protect our state! It is your duty to protect the citizens of South Dakota and allowing refugees to come here puts us in imminent danger. We already have many refugees. Instead please help our homeless South Dakota, US citizens!

I believe bringing these refugees here is a very bad idea! We talk all the time how we should keep our children safe but by bringing known terrorist here to SD is not the best idea! This is Obama’s problem not ours let’s protect what we have and stop this! We have a problem as is on our hands so you are going to let these people come here and ruin what we have! Why what is wrong with this picture? Our community is at stake the way it is how many white Americans are home less or without jobs? To many to count but let’s bring more refugees here and leave our own people stranded so the people of America can continue to fight for what they have while they sit on their butt and collect all the government assistance they can possibly get!
I have 3 kids work a full time job, I drive a shitty car from 1997 and I’m barely making it.. I don’t get government assistance cause I make to much! I think we should refuse them to come here. How can you tell if the ones that come here are terrorist or not? Would you really want to risk it honestly? I know I wouldn’t. I want to protect my family, and I will do whatever I have to do to protect them. If you feel that they should come here, I will pack my family and move to a state that don’t accept them. Or better yet let’s move them in upperclass areas and not in the poor minority community were they are already disadvantaged. Where LEO are already harassing them. As a precaution after the Paris attacks and the possibility they may have been perpetrated by terrorists that were brought into Paris as “refugees” I think it would be a great security risk to do the same practice here. We should stop or at least postpone this practice until we can properly screen them.
