Governor Daugaard Won’t Refuse Syrian Refugees

Many Governors are protecting their states by refusing to accept Syrian Refugees.

 (picture from Fox and Friends)

South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard is not one of them.

The best he seems able to do is “We have to wait and see”.  Its one thing to not be a leader, but in this case, its even worse not to at least be a follower.  A growing number of Governors are taking a principled stand to reject the Obama policy of infiltrating America with potential terrorists.  Governor Daugaard should follow their lead, and protect the people of South Dakota.

South Dakota should refuse Syrian refugees.

Please call today and tell Governor Daugaard he needs to take a stand against terrorism, refuse Syrian refugees and protect South Dakota.

So you want to let these refugees into our state? You want to give them housing? You want to give them welfare? you can’t even give that to the people of the state already. Why would you help outsiders rather than the people of the red, white, and blue? As of right now you will be considered no better than the dirt on my shoes like the “Commander and Chief” of this country. While we have homeless veterans and children everywhere, you want to help people that have done not one damn thing for this country other than put us all in fear? How about we send you and said “Commander and Chief” over seas and see if your mind changes. What’s gonna happen when all this shit blows up and people die in mass numbers because of a foolish mistake? Where has our country gone? Why is it being ran by idiots who can’t see what’s at risk? It should be our people before others. This country was once great. Now we’re stuck with idiots that we trusted. That war is not our place. Why did we even get involved? Questions that I bet nobody has the answers to. For the safety of our people and our country do the right thing and refuse to allow and give my tax money to people who can’t be trusted.

    Governor,
In your time as governor of our state, you have had to make some difficult choices. This is another one of them. I have not always agreed with all of them but, i have respected them because you thought it was best for our state. This one I can not have the same respect for. Please change your mind on this one. Don’t take any chances. We have a safe state, and I think all South Dakotans would like to keep it that way. We don’t want them, nor do we need them.

I support Gov. Daugard on this issue. I rarely agree with his positions, but on this he has it right. People–stop the fear mongering.

Terrorists hide anywhere and everywhere .. They could be hiding amongst the refugees and by allowing them in is a big risk to take . They will find ways to get onto our soil but please don’t freely let them in if we cannot check them out. They hid amongst those in Paris

I have never been more proud of our state than right now. Thank you for making the right decision, Governor. People are responding irrationally and with fear despite the fact that the refugees don’t pose a threat. They’re fleeing from a war torn country where they face starvation, or conscription. Many are educated, skilled workers, and all are simply looking for a safe place to call home.

This is a rare opportunity for South Dakota to show that it welcomes people in need of shelter. Years from now people will look back and realize this was the obvious decision all along.

We have plenty in our own state that we could be taking care of and lend a helping hand to!!! Why must we always take better care of people from other countries then we do our very own. We have people in our own state of SD that we do not take care of…we have homeless, Vets that don’t have homes, vets that need help …people that are just plain down and out …yet you want to allow these people in?! Please listen to our veterans that have posted above….they speak the truth. Listen to the people that have spoken in your state THE CITIZENS OF SD DON’T WANT THEM….. I guess Im sorry that I voted for you….

Dear Gov Daugaard – 750,000 refugees have come to these shores since 9/11. not one has been a terrorist. we are admonished by our Christian bible to take care of the stranger, the homeless and hungry. what kind of a nation are we becoming when we turn our backs on people? do you recall that in 1938 the majority of people refused to accept Jewish refugees? do you remember how that worked out? recall these words from Emma Lazarus on our Statue of Liberty:
Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
    With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.

“Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she
With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

are you willing to stand beside those who turn their back on our Statue of Liberty? or will you stand for that shining city on the hill America the land of the free and the home of the brave. be brave. don’t get caught up in the emotion of fear and hatred for political purposes.

    Gov. Daugaard
We have enough problems with our welfare system and providing housing for the needy people whiteout them.
It looks to my that there is a high potential for terrorists to be imbedded with them. I don’t see any women or children or older people on the TV when they show the groups of these people. Please join the other governors and send a message to Washington.

As a former Refugees 27 years ago, my job is to advocate for the members to feel that they are part of this great state. South Dakotan are overall nice people and they are kind to their neighbors.

Governor Daugaard. How out of touch with reality are you? You are putting America at risk allowing these refugees in your state. You are setting you state up for serious trouble. I don’t want to be in fear for my life when I come to Sioux Falls to shop. Look at the state of this city already and the rise in crime, murder theft that already is occurring. I remember when this city was rated #1 place to raise a family. That isn’t true anymore. This city has been ruined by the current high rate of immigrants. And now you want to accept more problems and potential danger. Don’t be a fool man. You obviously don’t give a crap about your family. But I do mine. You must rethink this ridiculous stupid decision before its to late.

No refugees from Syria. Sorry it is too much the risk.

Let’s make this simple. I spent a portion of my last seven years of my military career in the Middle East and Africa. Specifically Desert Storm And Resore Hope in Somalia. My feelings as well as thousands of veterans across the state of South Dakota I am sure they feel much the same way I do. Until you can verify the background of these refugees, which you can not, you are possibly endangering hundreds, maybe thousands of innocent South Dakotans. As a representative of thousands of South Dakota veterans, we strongly recommend that no refugees be allowed in our state for a indefinite period of time. We owe it to our citizens and children. Do not allow this to happen.

    Gov. Daugaard,

NO REFUGEES HERE IN SOUTH DAKOTA!! They are a clear and present danger to the western way of life. Please change your mind about this incredibly stupid position.

For a bunch of so-called patriots, you seem to be giving into fear that a few refugees may be bad people and forgetting that we’re supposed to be the “home of the free and the BRAVE.”

    Gov. Daugaard,
I voted for you because I thought you shared my family’s values, were patriotic, and would look out for what is best for South Dakota families. It is clear to me and MANY other South Dakotans that your interest is not in leading this state in protecting itself from the threat of terror, but to appease the federal government by risking the lives of those who voted for you. You have lost my vote unless something is done to protect South Dakota families. You have no idea who these refugees are and have no way of knowing with certainty that they will not harm the people of South Dakota with terrorists acts. DO NOT let any Syrian refugees into our homeland, DO NOT put our children at risk, DO NOT put your political agenda above your constituents safety!!

  22. November 17, 2015 at 1:02 pm

Gov. Daugaard if I gave you a bag of grapes and told one of them is poison. Would you eat them and hope you didn’t get the bad one or would you toss them all out. Don’t play Russian Roulette with South Dakotan’s lives say NO to Syrian Refugees. It’s not worth the risk.

We should form our own militia’s and practice marksmanship. Finding our best places for sniper nests and high ground for defenses against any uprising in our state! We can exclude muslims since we are private “club”. you get what I’m talking about.

Please protect our country and our state of SD. We don’t need anymore stress in our lives. They are using every means to come into our country and cause destruction. Any American death will be on your shoulders. Do you want to live with that?

“The care of human life and happiness and not their destruction is the first and only legitimate object of good government.” – Thomas Jefferson

How can you protect the people under your charge from the infiltration of terrorists when you run and hide from decision-making?

Dennis Daugaard is not a leader. He is a follower, a follower of the path of least resistance, a follower of what he perceives will make him most look like “a good guy.”

It’s sad when an average person lives like this. It’s pathetic and derelict when a person in a position of authority lives like this.

No part of that Thomas Jefferson quote mentioned that you should only care for the people who are governed. Jefferson was referring to all Humans, not just the ones you like. I don’t think he’s appreciate you twisting his words.

Daugaard is a bigger man than you or any of the other Governers banning immigrants for that matter. Nobody is at risk by letting them in as no Syrian immigrant has proved a danger to national security. Even France has opened up their borders again. I stand by Daugaard in his decision. He’s putting Humanitarianism and kindness above pressure from people like you.

He’s also a better Christian than so many of these so called “Believers”.
