In Search of Truth

This political season presents an age-old question.

Pilate posed the question to Jesus, “What is truth?”.

It’s a question many voters are asking as they listen to the political debate.  It is difficult to separate the liars from the truth.  Some people have become so cynical that they just assume ALL candidates are liars.

The media and internet are full of misinformation and deception.  You can “prove” that Obama is an extraterrestrial and the Pope is a closet homosexual.  So how do you separate fact from fiction?

Beginning with a solid foundation is always best.  In this case, the foundation is Christ.  He defined truth when He said, “I am the truth, the life and the way”.  It follows that anything which does not align with Christ and His doctrine is deceit.

With that, it becomes easier to evaluate the candidates.  Those who do not agree with those principles do not represent truth.  That makes them purveyors of deceit.  If they SAY they are believers, but don’t know much (or anything) about the Bible, it is reasonable to question how they could represent the truth.

Unfortunately, many voters are not really looking for truth.  They are looking for someone who will validate their own version of how the world should look, with little regard to truth.  There are plenty of candidates in both parties to meet that need.

The search for truth begins and ends with Jesus.
