A SHORT PRAYER FOR TODAY

Lord God Heavenly Father, today we ask that you would shower your grace and love and mercy on all those who lost loved ones on 9/11/2001. Comfort them with the knowledge that Your Son Jesus Christ also was murdered. But he conquered death by His Resurrection and through Him their loved ones are now safe in Your arms.

We ask this in the Name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour.

Amen.

I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don’t know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading.

You certainly have some agreeable opinions and views. Your blog provides a fresh look at the subject.

“You have heard it was said, “You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.” But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be the children of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the righteous and on the unrighteous.”

    Jesus Christ

    Matthew 5:43-45

I will continue to pray for you Ed.

    Ed,
Jews don’t believe in “Satan.” “Satan” is an English derivative of the Hebrew word for grave. I surprised you don’t know this.
Do you love homosexuals Ed? Has God given you the faith to accept them as your brothers and sisters? The prayer compels us to follow the word of God, and accept those who are different than us, without judging them. I’m afraid you haven’t been blessed yet, so I will continue to keep you in my prayers. I’m simply doing God’s work, and know a mere mortal such as myself cannot help you to see God’s light. It is you who tempts me away from the grace of God, to no avail.

    Ed,
It is you who is playing the devil’s advocate. I will offer this prayer as a sign of my goodwill, and wishes for peace among all men. Jesus chose to die on the cross, and He does not wish for you to judge those who jusdged Him.

    Let us pray;

“Let the rain come and wash away the ancient grudges, the bitter hatreds held and nurtured over generations. Let the rain wash away the memory of the hurt, the neglect. Then let the sun come out and fill the sky with rainbows. Let the warmth of the sun heal us wherever we are broken. Let it burn away the fog so that we can see each other clearly. So that we can see beyond labels, beyond accents, gender or skin color. Let the warmth and brightness of the sun melt our selfishness. So that we can share the joys and feel the sorrows of our neighbors. Let the earth, nurished by rain, bring forth flowers to surround us with beauty. And let the mountains teach our hearts to reach upward to heaven. Amen.”

      Indy,
A beautiful prayer from the Rabbi. However, it has no relevance in this matter as I bear no hatred of you or others. I am not judging you. I do not play devil’s advocate. I pray that you will cease your writings that serve to confuse others and foster doubt in their hearts as to the true word of God. You will not shake my faithfulness to the Word of God even as Satan compels you to try.

    Definitions:
Crucify – to treat with gross injustice; persecute; torment; torture.
Murder – to kill or slaughter inhumanly or barbarously; to kill unjustly

Matthew 27:37 And they put up over His head the accusation written against Him: THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

Matthew 27:29-37 29 When they had twisted a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand. And they bowed the knee before Him and mocked Him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” 30 Then they spat on Him, and took the reed and struck Him on the head.

I don’t know about anyone else, but to me this fits the definition of murder. Our Christ was unjustly killed, and yes he died for our sins, but look at the accusation they hung above his head. Does this sound like a just reason to kill someone?

Also to you Independent: It’s very obvious that you enjoy playing “Devil’s Advocate” so I’m sure you will also disagree with my comment, but why don’t you try this: step back and take the prayer for what it is. Remember all those that were murdered on that sad day and that because of Jesus Christ dying for their sins they are now in heaven with Him watching over their loved ones and also think about all of our brave men and women fighting for your freedom overseas. God Bless them for their courage!

If Jesus was born to die for our sins, and His death was part of a God’s plan, then how could He have been murdered? He willingly gave His life to absolve us of our sins. This prayer makes no sense.
