Hate, Lies and Slander

Welcome to politics, 2016.

The new response to anyone who disagrees with a particular candidate is now to brand them as a “hater”.  Even though I am not a fan of Clinton, or for that matter Trump, that does not make me a hater.  And I’m sorry, but my disagreement with Obama policy positions does not make me a racist.

I am, however, a concerned conservative.

It seems to me that every side resorts to name calling, misrepresentations, lies and slander.  What has happened to reasoned dialogue and fact?  Does character and basic morality even matter in the political arena any more?  It’s hard for me to argue that it does to most voters.

Civil discourse would be a pleasant change of pace.  Don’t expect to see it any time soon.  This is a new era.  The electorate has demonstrated an alarming willingness to overlook the things that used to be important in our country:

Honesty, integrity and character.
