Who Does God Want To Be President?

It’s a question we should be asking.

I would like to ask each candidate to pray this prayer:

“Lord, I commit myself to follow your direction.  Please conform my heart and mind to Your will.  If you see me as an adversary to your will and purposes, do not allow me to become President of the United States.”

We should be individually praying a similar prayer regarding who we should vote for.

Proverbs 14:34 reminds us, “Righteousness exalts a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.”

A nation who turns its back on God is a nation for which there is no hope.  Consider the encounter of King Asa with the Prophet Azariah, recorded in 11 Chronicles 15:1-2:

“And the Spirit of God came upon Azariah the son of Oded: And he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; The Lord is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.”

It seems pretty clear that God will help a nation that follows Him, and abandon a nation that abandons Him.

The verses that follow this Scripture record the response of King Asa, and the blessing of God.  God’s protection and blessing continued until Asa chose to rely on a political alliance rather than God.

America needs a President with a heart to serve God.
