Dr. Ben Carson, Please Make Up Your Mind

It isn’t that difficult.

President elect Trump reportedly offered Carson the position of Secretary of Health & Human Services.  Carson wasn’t interested.  Then he was offered Secretary of HUD.  Now he just can’t make up his mind.

He doesn’t mind talking about it on every available news network though.  Really?  I was not a strong supporter of the Carson for President effort.  Neither have I been very critical of him.  He is a remarkable man with an impressive resume.  I expected more of him.

It doesn’t reflect well on the President elect to have Carson talking about the Trump offer so loosely.  Its like having the girl you love (who doesn’t yet know if she loves you back) telling everyone that you proposed, but she just “can’t decide” if she wants you or not.  You might begin to wish you hadn’t asked her in the first place.

If Carson decides to accept the position he would likely do a good job.  I just wish he would stop talking about it until he makes up his mind.

This is why I was cautious about getting behind Carson for president. He made a great speech a few years ago at the National Prayer Breakfast which showed a good grasp of many things our president was doing wrong…but that doesn’t necessarily mean he had the leadership skills and other qualities necessary to be a good president. I had hope…but as time went by, it became more and more clear that he’s just not the decisive kind of person it takes to lead a country, especially out of the serious problems we have.

Christians have to STOP being so shallow in their evaluations, and start using our heads and good judgment like Christ commanded us to. Think of what might have been, if the energy that was behind Carson, especially in the early days of the primary, had been behind a candidate with not only a firm grasp of what’s wrong, but a firm vision of what it takes to put it right, and the decisiveness to make it happen.
