Why are South Dakota Indian Reservations the worst places to live?
You might be surprised to learn that the United States government could be the reason American Indians are the poorest and most oppressed ethnic group. Political leaders from South Dakota and the Federal government have been unwilling, unable and/or uninterested when it comes to solving these problems.
Naomi Schaefer Riley, author of the book “The New Trail of Tears” presents a clear picture of the problems as well as the causes in this video from Prager University.
Some Tribes are taking action that is producing positive change, but significant change from the Federal government will be required to begin effecting long term solutions.
Maybe the Trump Administration will tackle this problem. Governor Daugaard, Senators Thune and Rounds, as well as Representative Noem are in a position to bring it to the President’s attention.
Or not.
