Killing President Donald Trump

One State Senator hopes President Trump “is assassinated”.

A well know actor has suggested that “maybe it’s time to assassinate a President”, referring to the assassination of President Lincoln as the example that should be repeated.

Many other anti-Trumpers have advocated the literal killing of the President.

If those things had been said about any of the past few Presidents, someone would be in jail.  Not so with Donald Trump.

Beyond those alarming threats is the relentless assault of the media.  Since he began his campaign for the Presidency, Donald Trump has literally dominated nearly every news cycle.  Most of it has been negative press.  Since his election the negative and often untrue reporting has been astounding.  Granted, he has the ability to give plenty of ammunition to his adversaries, but even when he doesn’t, the manufactured negativity abounds.

There is a very real effort to render him ineffective and/or remove him from office.

Polling data shows him with historically low popularity ratings.  The polls have been wrong on many occasions, including ones that showed him losing the race for President.  When he has what the media calls “campaign style” rallies, the crowds are large and supportive.  This befuddles and enrages his opposition.

The Trump Train is fueled by the disgust of the American people with the political leaders on the left and on the right.  They have taken us in a direction we do not like, and they have proven themselves to be largely ineffective in correcting the problems they have created.  Trump is not hesitant to call them out.  That makes many on both sides of the isle wish they could simply “eliminate” him.

I am reminded of the story from the Old Testament about Haman.  He prepared a gallows in anticipation of hanging his adversary, little knowing he was preparing it for himself.

The media has gone so overboard in its anti-Trump efforts that they have found themselves the losers.  Democrat leaders are experiencing a similar fate.  Republican leaders like McConnell and Ryan are discovering it isn’t to their advantage to tangle with Trump.

At the end of the day, it may not be Donald Trump who is eliminated.
