Who can we trust?
The FBI response to information requests related to the tarmac meeting between former Attorney General Lynch and former President Clinton was, “We don’t have any documentation”.
With further pressure for documents under the Freedom of Information Act, the FBI has changed its tune.
“Upon further review, we subsequently determined potentially responsive documents may exist.”
The documents that “may” exist include 30 pages of documents the FBI has now “found”.
The culture of corruption runs deep and wide in the Federal Government. Lest you think it ends there, you might want to take a closer look. State and local governments are in up to their eyeballs too. In South Dakota, the corruption surrounding EB5 and Gear Up only scratches the surface.
I am reminded of a committee assignment I received while serving in the South Dakota State Legislature. The purpose was to review the Game Fish and Parks Department, top to bottom. During the proceedings, I asked the then-Director of the GF&P to disclose the source of funds with which they were purchasing property. The response was given without hesitation, “I don’t know if I can give you that information.”
It was clear this was not an issue of whether or not the information existed. It was a question of whether or not this oversight committee was “entitled” to the information. My motion to extend our meeting for a few days so we could attempt to get the information failed, with lack of support from establishment-type Legislators on the committee.
Rooting out corruption, dishonesty and graft is a complicated mission. The deeply entrenched bureaucrats will lie, stonewall, hide and destroy to protect themselves and their cronies. Cleaning up the swamp is a great line for political rallies, but it is easier said than done.
