America: You Can’t Have Your Cake

Image result for cakeYou can’t have your cake and eat it too is an idiomatic proverb or figure of speech thought to have been used since the sixteenth century. It is the equivalent of saying, “you can’t have it both ways.”

Americans, it is said, are living in the most dumbed down generation in our history. College freshmen are reading at tenth grade high school level and knowledge of basic things like geography and history are an embarrassment to many from elementary to post grad school.

This may not be the time to expect that even common wisdom is enough for us to engage in to unravel the long list of daily social issues that produce a plethora of glaring contradictions, absurdities, non- sequiturs and incongruities.

In the simplest terms – Americans are not making sense any more. Let’s see.

The Atheists – Christian apolegetics is not needed to counter the arguments of the atheist. The idea that God does not exist only has merit if you are perfectly neutral about that belief. Logically, if you don’t believe in God you have a fifty percent chance of being right, but if you fight belief in God or God himself you have a one hundred percent chance of being a complete fool.

When you begin fighting against an entity or anything that you insist does not exist you have crossed the line from logic to foolishness.

Starting with the premise that God does not exist, means that the only thing an atheist can hate is the believer and in today’s politically correct charged atmosphere that would be the equivalent of a hate crime.

At the very least people who attack Christian crosses and symbols are not just beating the air they are committing acts of hate and in some cases prosecutable acts of vandalism and vigilantism.

Writer Bryan Fischer recently declared that the fourth circuit court of appeals ruling to pull down the WW1 1925 40-foot tall Bladensburg Cross, sometimes referred to as “The Peace Cross” near Washington DC is an impeachable offense.

When our actions dip to the kind of low that attacks even the symbols of a faith, atheism has reached the place of being a freedom crushing tyranny.

Knee bending sports figures – Because blacks make up only 13 percent of our population and have committed 7881 homicides against other blacks in 2016 means only one thing, the reason sports figures are bending the knee is the most absurd idea in the history of both sports and the nation.

Sixteen unarmed blacks were shot out of a total of 243. Most of the 243, according to police records, were armed and dangerous.

No one can argue that it is totally unacceptable that anyone should be shot without good reason, but it seems that no one is willing to bend the knee for the 7881 citizens who were slaughtered without any lawful cause whatsoever.

The BLM narrative and the sports figures who bend the knee during the playing of the national anthem must all need a refresher course in both social studies and ordinary math.

Until someone starts a movement against the everyday slaughter of blacks, the bowing of the knee is extraneous ersatz.

Which Battle – Islamophobia or Terrorism?

“And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe or harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped? For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?” (1 Co 14: 8)

The Gatestone Institute recently posted an article by Judith Bergman, a columnist, lawyer and political analyst, the article is entitled “Germany: Full Censorship Now Official – Courts Rewrite History.” Bergman asks the pertinent question:

“When employees of social media companies are appointed as the state’s private thought police and given the power to shape the form of current political and cultural discourse by deciding who shall be allowed to speak and what to say, and who shall be shut down, free speech becomes nothing more than a fairy tale. Or is that perhaps the point?”

She follows this amazing question with another that leaves the reader dazzled by the incongruity of the leaders of a nation once renowned for its logical thinkers. She asks:

“Perhaps fighting “Islamophobia” is now a higher priority than fighting terrorism?”

Today the question can be asked of England, Canada and many other countries who think it is more important to rout out islamophobics than to chase down and stop Islamic terrorists.

It is an absurd question and should not have to be asked at all. If it must be asked then confusion has come to reign as clearly defined by yet another article penned by author Austin Miles labeled “Keeping Us Totally Confused.”

Which trumpet sound should we respond to? If you need to ask, it is already too late.

Homophobia or allodoxaphobia? – Allodoxaphobia is the fear of other people’s opinions. In a world ever more crippled by political correctness the idea of holding an opinion that opposes the pop-culture opinion du-jour is both unacceptable and possibly prosecutable.

In spite of the many churches and false teachers that have chosen to bend to the world, those who still believe that homosexuality is wrong are not holding to an opinion. The reason this is correct is because God has no opinion. Those who take God’s word as true and final are holding to the God who is the law, righteousness and the final arbiter of all matters of ethics and morality.

If God declares that sodomy is an abomination there is no argument that can suffice to challenge that declaration. It is no one’s opinion it is settled truth forever.

No opinion is above the law of God.

Teaching respect for life while slaughtering the innocents – Not many people have heard of another phobia called triskaidekaphobia which is the morbid fear of the number thirteen.

More than any other nation in the world the United States should be rightfully busy with some serious triskaidekaphobia.

There are some 13 very clear verses of scripture that decry and warn against the business of shedding innocent blood.

Certainly 60 million aborted un-born children slaughtered under Roe v. Wade since 1973 qualify as the shedding of innocent blood.

Call them a fetus or a mass of tissue or any other name you may imagine, the one thing they all have in common when they are aborted is this – they all bleed red human blood and they are the most innocent of us all.

Teaching children to be respectful while dishonoring our own Commander in Chief – It is among the great non-sequitur’s of the decade to watch politicians, Hollywood celebrities and many otherwise decent people railing against President Donald Trump as if he were enemy number one.

The vitriol, feckless umbrage and vituperative language used against President Trump are un-paralleled in our history. The invectives have capitulated to pure hatred.

Unless we are willing to feed our children with the philosophy of, “do as I say and not as I do,” it has to stop.

It is unproductive, anti-American and it is growing tiresome.

Take a serious look at the President’s first eight months in office and you will see he has been consistently keeping his promises and has done nothing that does not reflect his great love and respect for the American people.

Isn’t it time that we returned some of that respect?

It is hard not to see the Trump haters in the light of the Epistle of Jude.

Jude said that even angels, or rather the highest angel in the heavens, did not stoop to reviling and name calling even when rightfully rebuking the evil powers of the day. To wit:

“Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities. Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.” (Jude 1: 8-9)

Are we not in danger of being rebuked America?
