The Apostle Paul Couldn’t Survive In American Politics

It appears Judge Roy Moore has lost the race for US Senate.

Even though the allegations of sexual misconduct are from incidents that are decades ago… if they actually happened.  Judge Moore had categorically and adamantly denied the charges, which were brought in the last weeks of an important political race.  His unwavering support for conservative Christian values and honorable public service for years and years did not carry him over the finish line.

To be sure, sexual improprieties are never acceptable.  BUT… should last minute charges of this nature in a heated political race automatically disqualify a candidate?  At least one of these accusers has been proven to be a liar who “created” evidence by writing in a school yearbook and claiming it was Moore who wrote.

Image result for apostle paulThe Apostle Paul was a confirmed murderer and persecutor of Christians.  He overcame that personal history to become the writer of most of the New Testament and a man powerfully used by God.  His history became irrelevant after his conversion.  He was accepted by the church.  The Holy Spirit moved through him in ways that affirmed his position and authority as a representative of Almighty God.

That wouldn’t (doesn’t) suffice in American politics.

The world of politics seems to be controlled by men and women who have little or no regard for redemption.  Rather, they sacrifice their own for political gain, and claim moral high ground by demanding sexual purity on the one hand while supporting and promoting sexual debauchery on the other.  These “champions of Righteousness” are wolves in sheep’s clothing.  They demand acceptance of behavior that is clearly identified by Scripture as sinful, from homosexuality to killing unborn children.  BUT, they require vengeance and disqualification when, at eleventh hour, unproven charges are brought forward, even when they are completely denied by the accused and brought by proven liars.

The Apostle Paul wouldn’t  last a day in American politics.  The rulers of today are much like those of Biblical history.  The rebuke of the rulers in His day by our Lord would easily fit the political vipers of today,

“Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.”

No, Paul would be denied ANY position, regardless of the truth that:

“if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

The political leaders of our day follow those in Biblical history, who crucified the only innocent man to ever walk on earth.

The Apostle Paul wouldn’t stand a chance.
