Tea Party Racist, Misogynistic?

Dateline 2011: How can the Tea Party be labeled racist or misogynistic when one of the announced candidates for the Republican presidential nomination that enjoys widespread Tea Party support is Herman Cain and another is Michele Bachmann? A third Tea Party favorite, though not yet announced as a candidate, is Sarah Palin.

The remainder of the current Republican candidates, are either libertarians or big-tent, moderate Republicans (called RINO’s where I live) that are desperately trying to prove that they are conservatives.

Herman Cain has been a favorite of the Tea Party and conservative activists since his entry into the presidential race. His support is neither enhanced nor diminished by his race. His strong Christian conservative philosophy has earned him that support.

Michele Bachmann (R-MN) has advanced Tea Party philosophy and values consistently in her political career and was the founder of the House Tea Party Caucus. Her initial success in the Iowa straw poll was due in no small part to Tea Party support.

If charges of racism are to be hurled, they should be aimed at black voters who voted for Barack Obama because he was black and white voters that voted for Barack Obama because of a racial guilt or to “make history” by electing the first black US president. Merriam-Webster makes no distinction as to what color a person must be to be a racist and neither do I.

Despite the economic calamity that Barack Obama has perpetrated in the 2-1/2 years of his tenure, particularly its effect on black Americans, a recent poll showed a 92% approval rating for him among blacks.

As for misogyny, the Tea Party and conservative activists would not oppose Hillary Clinton’s candidacy on the basis of her race or gender.
