PULPIT FREEDOM SUNDAY

A reminder to all pastors to participate in Pulpit Freedom Sunday on September 26th.

Since the passage of the “Johnson amendment” to the IRS tax code in 1954, the IRS and certain radical organizations such as the Americans United for Separation of Church and State have created an atmosphere of intimidation and fear for pastors and churches that dare to speak Scriptural truth about candidates for office or issues of the day.

It is time for the intimidation and threats to end. Churches and pastors have a Constitutional right to preach unfettered by the government even on candidates and issues.

In the State of South Dakota alone, two children are murdered each day by abortionists. Is it not the right and responsibility of pastors to preach against these heinous acts and to remind their church members of the positions taken by candidates for office?

Pastors, elders, church members please visit the Alliance Defense Fund at http://speakupmovement.org/Church/LearnMore/Details/3882 for more details on Pulpit Freedom Sunday.

As Christian church members let us encourage our pastors to speak up on September 26th and support the candidates and issues that are righteous.

The Constitution is explicit on the subject of the “free exercise” of religion as well as free speech. The threat of tax liens against churches that exercise their first amendment rights is a clear violation of Constitutional principles. A small player, Sunday School teacher, I will be sure to speak up on September 26 (and every other day) without fear of government agents and interference. Let’s put this to the test in court and make the government explain the reasoning behind censorship of the pulpit.
