Getting Rid Of Conservatives

Some conservatives are only “skin deep”.  Others are conservative to the bone!

South Dakota State Representative Stace Nelson is the latter.

“I’m a conservative. I’m not just a picture conservative. I’m a walking, talking conservative.” Nelson says.

The Sioux Falls Argus Leader reports, “Many residents in the area think Nelson is standing up for the small farmer against big business and a foreign company that wants to build a mega-dairy that the community can’t support. They say officials in Pierre are selling them out.   “He’s a good guy,” says Don Cheeseman, who has lived in Hanson County for almost 70 years. “The whole county thinks he’s a good guy. He’s just trying to straighten out Pierre.” Pierre, Cheeseman adds, is corrupt.

So WHO would like to get rid of Stace Nelson… and other conservatives?

Republican leaders in Pierre, that’s who!  To be specific, the Governor, who is promoting a 7,000 head foreign-owned dairy in Stace Nelson’s district.  Stace and his constituents don’t want it… and Stace has been plenty clear about it.  That doesn’t set well with the administration.

Who else wants to get rid of Stace Nelson?  The House leadership team.  Speaker Val Raush, Majority leader David Lust, Speaker Pro Tem Brian Gosh and Assistant Leader Justin Cronin threw Stace off the Ag committee, refused to call on him on the House floor, expelled him from the Republican caucus and moved him to the front of the House floor in an effort to humiliate him, silence him and intimidate him.  It didn’t work.

Republican leadership in Pierre also stonewalled legislation from conservative Legislators, withheld information and demanded (and got) confidential information on those bills from Legislative staff members.

They also passed legislation that forms a special “Super Committee” designed to put even more power in the hands of a few elite “leaders”.

There is a long list of legislation designed by the current Republican leadership team to lead South Dakota away from conservative principles, to embrace and implement ObamaCare (South Dakota is one of the states LEADING that charge), to place more power in the hands of a few “select” power brokers and marginalize conservative Legislators.

A reasonable question would be “Why would REPUBLICAN leaders want to get rid of conservatives?”

The answer would be found in a variety of voting scorecards.  MOST Republicans vote AGAINST the Republican Party platform MOST of the time.  They are not happy when anyone blows their cover.

So, will Republican leaders get rid of conservatives?

We can only hope that the voters will get rid of the current Republican leaders!

Hey, Gordon! What’s going on with the phone call polling in West River districts with GOP primaries? Have you gotten a call? Do you know who’s getting those calls, and who’s behind them?

Hey Cory, I don’t have proof but my guess would be Dennis Daugaard. He made lots of deals at session’s end to support his water carriers.
