House Moves to Block Obama’s Welfare Work Waiver

On Thursday, the US House struck the first blow to block Obama’s welfare work waiver from full implementation.  The House voted 250-164 to reject this illegal overreach with 19 Democrats voting with the Republican majority.

In Obama’s regime the modus operandi is to rule by Executive Order and/or failure to either enforce the law or deciding to ignore the law, and it was to be no different here. In 1996, Congress went to great lengths to ensure that work requirements aren’t subject to waivers. Yet with no more than a paragraph of legal analysis, HHS simply ruled it could suspend enforcement of laws that Obama does not like.

This is not the action of a leader, but a tyrant.

While only a first step, it is a first step to stopping Obama’s undoing of welfare reform. The Senate will take up this issue soon and the fight will be much tougher in the Democrat-controlled, Harry Reid led, upper chamber.

I applaud the House members that voted for this measure, including my Congresswoman Kristi Noem.
