The race for US Senate in South Dakota seems to be heating up.
Reliable sources confirmed that former state Senator Bill Napoli met this week with a group of supporters, (who are part of a fund-raising committee) to discuss the Senate race against former Governor Mike Rounds. The group agreed on a targeted amount of money to be raised for a Napoli candidacy. While the exact amount was not released, Napoli has been heard saying that a serious challenger to Rounds would need at least a million dollars. An anonymous attendee confirmed that nearly half of the targeted amount had already been committed by late Thursday.
The Senate Conservative Fund, a national organization which has raised over $16 million dollars to support conservative candidates for US Senate, has rejected Rounds as a candidate. The Rounds performance record has caused this group to search for a conservative candidate to challenge the former Governor. They may have just found that candidate in Napoli. We have confirmed that a member of the Napoli fund-raising committee has been in contact with the Senate Conservative Fund.
Napoli’s conservative credentials are unquestionable. His record in the State House and Senate provides a strong contrast with the Rounds record. The prospect of Napoli entering the Senate race will undoubtedly be good news to conservative Republicans. The napkin-polls taken around the Lincoln Day dinner tables in South Dakota have shown weak support for Rounds.
Mike Rounds may have his hands full. It will take more than a pretty smile to win against the conservative and outspoken Napoli.

The voice of SD has been effectively shut down with Tim Johnson voting consistent liberal principles and thus cancelling Thunes votes. SDakotans need a real conservative rather than a liberal conservative to speak for them in WA. On another matter it seems many of our SD Republican state Senators and Representatives are more interested in being politically correct than they are in voicing the conservative principles they would lead us to believe they are following.
