Looking Forward

I am not someone who enjoys losing.

That said, I look for the silver lining when things don’t turn out the way I would have chosen.

It is clear that I have significant differences with each of the other three men in the race for US Senate, but mention should be made of my observations of them during this campaign.

Mike Rounds was successful in delivering a message that produced the winning campaign.  The organization and effort deserves to be congratulated.  I will continue to genuinely pray for him as he assumes this important office.

My appreciation for Rick Weiland has grown during this campaign.  I have enjoyed his family and am grateful for our friendship.  Rick is someone whose heartfelt desire to make life better for others has earned him the respect of many South Dakotans, including me.

Larry Pressler has demonstrated a gentle demeanor with a positive campaign.  Beyond the campaign, it is easy to believe he is a gentleman.

Now for the silver lining…

I am deeply grateful for the love, encouragement and support of so many during this short 5 months of our campaign.  Many have given very sacrificially and been brave enough to stand on principle in the face of great pressure and overwhelming odds.  Those are brothers and sisters who share a deep faith that it is imperative to do the right thing and leave the results to God.  While we share some level of disappointment, we know we can rest well because we have been faithful to His voice.

Another blessing has been the learning experience in general.  I have learned much about many people and organizations.  Some good, some not.  I have also discovered friends in some very unlikely places.

It is easy to end this campaign and begin to look for the next assignment.  No regrets.  Just a thankful assurance that God will continue to direct me in this marvelous adventure we call life.

Gordon you conducted yourself honestly and as a man of faith should. I know my family supported you on election day (as did I as well) and will always be there to affirm your effort and faith. May God truly bless you on what lies ahead for you and your family. Your friend always. Gary

As long as you’re in the employ of Yahweh Elohim, you are always going to be used mightily. Looking forward to seeing what it will be for you.
