Game Changers

Monopoly is a fun game…

… If you own all the hotels.

I have been the extreme Monopoly champion on many gatherings of friends and family.  It’s always fun to win.  Once my hotels were all in place, no one else stood a chance.  Their only option was to dutifully continue to roll the dice, go around the board and become poorer and poorer.  Sometimes I would give them a “pass” just to keep them in the game.  There always came a point in the game where the unfortunate simply folded and I took absolute control.  Thankfully, its only a game.

Unfortunately, it is a graphic picture of the Republican Party in South Dakota.  A select few have a strangle-hold on power.  They have had a monopoly long enough that they make their own rules and choose who is next in line for a power position.  These Left-leaning power brokers are deeply entrenched in leadership positions.  Conservatives win an occasional victory… just enough to keep them in the game.  Ultimately, the establishment Leftists control the board and win the game.

Nearly 150,000 voters have left the Republican and Democrat Party and registered as Independent.  They haven’t had a political home, but have left their respective Party because they don’t like the games they are playing.  They are about to have a new home.

Once in a while, an opportunity comes along that could change the game.

In South Dakota, there is a political game changer on the horizon.  The Republican Party leaders are strategizing now to stop it.  Even the big guns.. yes, even those in Washington DC.. are busy making plans and phone calls to stop this “new game” before it gets a good start.  They know it could upset their apple-cart and allow conservatives a way to break their grip on power and end their tax and spend, cronyism and corruption policies.

The “Game changer” is the Constitution Party.

For the first time, the Constitution Party has the opportunity to put conservative candidates on the ballot.  People will actually have a choice when they vote.  It may be a small contingent of candidates, but it is monumental.  This November could be the beginning of something good for South Dakota.  Very good.  You can count on the Republican establishment to fight it tooth and nail.  This is an insurgence they simply can’t afford.  It could unseat them and usher in a wave of conservative fiscal responsibility that would never happen as long as they are in power.

This is a game that will be fun to watch.

The Constitution Party is a game changer.
