400% Tax Increase

Will someone PLEASE tell Senator Begalka we are taxed enough already???

ANOTHER tax increase bill for property owners by Senator Tim Begalka would allow an organized township to increase the tax imposed when selling real estate from $ 1.00 per thousand dollars to $ 4.00 per thousand dollars.  This would particularly impact farm and ranch property sales, which tend to be larger sales.

View SB 240 HERE

Right now, if your farm or ranch sells for a million dollars (not a terribly high price these days for a family farm), your tax is $ one thousand dollars.  This new tax bill would total $ FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS!  That’s a 400% increase.

Thankfully, one of Sen. Begalka’s other tax bills was tabled in committee!!!

If Senator Begalka’s other real estate tax increase had passed… SB124 , you would have paid another $ 10,000.00 for the privelege of selling a property valued at a million dollars.

Your total tax would have been $14,000.00!!!

If you think we are taxed enough already, email Senator tax… I mean Senator Tim Begalka and tell him to KILL his tax increase bill, SB 240!

It’s a tax swap Gordon, meant to help replace the Contractors Excise Tax. If his bill eliminating the Contractors Excise over the next few years dies, he’ll kill this one. He’s just as much a tax raiser as you were in your tax swap bill.

Nice try Steve. You still don’t understand the bill I introduced, or you are intentionally continuing to misrepresent it. If there is a need to “replace” the funds for excise tax elimination, why not just REDUCE the tax part way. There is simply no need to be introducing tax increase bills.
