More Signs Of Revival

A message of hope, inspiration and challenge.

America’s only hope for restoration is for men, women and children to turn their hearts toward God. This Sunday message is one that is good for every day of the week.

*** Pastor Ron Burtz***

When revival comes it will be unmistakable in its speed, scope and supernatural quality. And when you consider the size of the problems in America today you would have to agree that the solution must be…well, God-sized. That solution is called Spiritual Awakening.

It has happened before…time and time again in our history and in other nations as well, not only have the churches been fortified by revival, but the ripple effect has changed the course of families, communities and entire nations.

Some of the most dramatic examples of the scope of revival come out of the Welsh revival of the early 20th century.

For instance in one village the crime rate was so low and police officers had so much time on their hands that they formed quartets and offered their services for church meetings. Judges were given white gloves symbolizing the fact that they had no cases to try. Pubs and taverns saw a dramatic dip in business and some were completely deserted.

In one community young men and women walked in procession through the streets, singing hymns and visiting public houses to invite those inside to come to the revival.

In one such drinking place there was one solitary customer sitting gloomily alone. Suddenly the evening air was filled with the jubilant voices of happy singers, just outside the door. So infuriated were the people in charge of the pub that they picked up some of the empty ale-pots and flung them recklessly at the happy youngsters. Disgusted with the conduct of his hosts the solitary patron rose from his seat, joined the enthusiastic procession, then went with them to the church, where he surrendered his life to Christ! That’s the broad scope of revival.

Restoration toward what: a pre-industrial society where we all live in small villages, grow our own food and dig our own latrines? Some state of Christian perfection that mankind enjoyed before Democrats or HBO ruined everything? What past halcyon days (not including the Garden of Eden, because fallible humanity cannot recreate that) do you seek to restore?
