The Captain’s Wheel

Did you know that the steering wheel of a ship is known as the ‘Captain’s Wheel?’

If we regard ourselves as a vessel that carries the precious cargo of the Holy Spirit within us, then it is appropriate for us to hand over the steering wheel of that vessel to the Captain of our Salvation, which is Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour.

It says in Matthew 8:23-24 NKJV; ‘Now when He got into a boat, His disciples followed Him. And suddenly a great tempest arose on the sea, so that the boat was covered with the waves. But He was asleep.’ Why was Jesus asleep? He was asleep (or at rest) because he had learnt to let His Heavenly Father take on the captaincy of the boat he was in. Even when Jesus and the disciples passed through stormy waters, God was still responsible for the journey.

The term ‘Captain’s Wheel’ is not a coincidence. God intends that each one of us learn to hand over the steering wheel of the circumstances of our lives and let God take control of it. Today, are you standing at the Captain’s Wheel of the vessel you are in? If so, maybe it’s time to step aside and let God do the navigating!
