Was It Racism?

Or was it something even more problematic?

cops

While the mayor of Baltimore issues a statement that “racism”, among other things, will not be tolerated, I am asking myself the question, “Was the death of Freddie Gray really a result of racism?”

Murder and other serious charges have been filed against the officers.  If they are guilty, they should suffer the consequences.  BUT, I am curious how ‘racism’ becomes a factor in this case when you look at the officers being charged (3 black, 3 white).  Are we now at a point in time when every murder or abuse of anyone other than a white person is ‘racism’… even when it comes at the hands of someone who ISN”T white?

Come on!  Shouldn’t we stop the hype and deal with real issues?  Certainly there are weight lossracists.  We should not tolerate racism.  I have become very weary, however, of individuals and media that insist on promoting the ‘racism’ issue to get headlines and advance a twisted perspective.

In this instance, if these officers are as guilty as circumstances would appear, it is very puzzling to me how anyone can make a case that it is ‘racism’.  It looks to me, more like a case of police brutality.  If Freddie Grey was a victim, let’s call this what it was.  Murder.

Police brutality and racism are two distinctly different issues.

I like your story named “Was It Racism?”.If you believe that racism does not exist then you will never see it even when it hits you right in the face. And if on the other hand you believe that racism is everywhere, then you will see it even in places it does not exist.
