And it’s WORSE than it looks!

I tend to be an optimist, although you might not know it by the title of this article. My hope and prayer is that there is still hope, if we will change direction. Honestly, I’m not that optimistic that we will.

We may have passed the point where there is a “political” solution to our Nation’s problems.

Elections at a State and National level have produced majorities in both parties who are perfectly willing to raise taxes, increase spending, grow government, compromise morality and steal our freedom.

At a National Level, the media gives us some idea what is happening, but in South Dakota, there isn’t much real scrutiny for the political class, unless they happen to be a threat to the political power brokers. The average man on the street still believes that all Republicans are conservative and that South Dakota is the stronghold of principled leadership. Unfortunately, that just isn’t the case.

One doesn’t have to look far into history to find the evidence. In South Dakota, the Republican Party maintains a strangle-hold on power.

• The GOP controlled South Dakota Legislature has succeeded in raising taxes by HUNDREDS of Millions of dollars in the past several years.

• Spending has exploded, with the State budget nearly $ 4 ½ BILLION per year.

• The moral fiber of political leadership has degenerated to the point that principled people have been expelled from Republican caucus meetings in favor of gestapo-style leadership. A ‘Favored’ political leader violated the law by notarizing his own petitions without consequence, a candidate who dared to challenge another ‘Favored’ leader faces 12 felony charges for insignificant petition infractions.

• Rights of parents to control the education of their children are being snatched from them through Common Core.

• GOP leadership from the Governor down have built the highway for government control of our health care via ObamaCare.

The debate on issues continues but the agenda doesn’t change. What most voters don’t seem to understand is that they are fighting the wrong battle. The objective has to be to change the PEOPLE, not the policies. Some policy battles may be won, but ultimately the agenda will not change as long as the same people continue to control the policy- making agenda.

Changing the people in South Dakota would mean conservatives would need to win a clear majority of the Legislative races in the State House and Senate, as well as numerous statewide elections. That isn’t highly probable, without a significant awakening and effort.

Until then, we need to pray.
