Firing Up The Crazies

Conservatives are perceived by establishment Republicans as “crazies”.

Donald Trump makes  inappropriate, obnoxious and offensive statements.  That’s who he is.  Trump isn’t actually a conservative, but his political “incorrectness” seems to appeal to a certain element of the voting public.  Like him or not, he bothers some people enough that they reveal what they really believe.  John McCain is one of those people.

Senator John McCain doesn’t mind calling them as he sees them.  That’s to his credit.  For many, that’s about as much credit as he deserves.  McCain, in an interview discussing the Donald Trump influence and surge within the Republican Party, said “Its very bad… He fired up the crazies”.  McCain is referring to conservatives, some of whom have taken action against McCain.  The Republican Party in Arizona censured him last year for his compromising jerry ad 2position on illegal immigration.  He dismisses them as “a very extreme element” within the Party.

Irrespective of the Trump-McCain feud, the Senator’s reaction is very revealing.  Remember that he was the man chosen by Republicans to represent the Party for President.  He didn’t do that without significant help from the “establishment” Republicans, who largely control the Party.  His comments are representative of the way the “establishment” Republicans view conservatives… “Crazies, Wacko-birds and extremists”.  Its not much different than the view most Democrats have of conservatives.

McCain went on to say he and others “did regain some control of the Party (in Arizona)”.  Unfortunately, the same could be said for the Party at a National level as well.  One thing conservatives should celebrate is that Trump has, indeed, been effective in “firing up the crazies”.  Perhaps they will remain stirred up enough to nominate a conservative candidate for President.

Its time to “Fire up the Crazies”!
