Voting For Lesser Of Two Evils

Evil always wins.

There is always a place for compromise… on some issues.  On others, there is NO room for compromise.

The Republican Party  would do well to recognize this.

Many strategists blame conservatives and Christians  for recent losses in Presidential politics.  Actually, they have themselves to blame.  If they would remain true to their own platform and principle, conservatives and Christians would stand with them and they would win.  I am not HIGconvinced they (the Republican establishment) yet understand that.

The time-tested argument that we would be “better off” with a compromising Republican than a Democrat has reached its shelf life.  Conservatives and Christians are increasingly not buying that line.  History has shown us that both of those choices lead us down the same road.

Patrick Henry delivered a line that we could learn from today when he said, “Give me liberty or give me death”.  No compromise.

Fortunately, Republicans have some very talented and principled candidates in the race for President.  There are, however, some who are not.  If one of the later should secure the Republican nomination, it will seriously impede the chances of a Republican win.

Conservatives and Christians are increasingly unwilling to accept a “compromise candidate”.  They want the real deal, or no deal.  They don’t like to choose between two bad candidates.  They are discovering that they actually have a third choice.  That is to stand on their principles and refuse to vote.  By refusing to vote for an unacceptable candidate, the worst candidate on the ballot may win.  In the short term, that may not seem to be good for America.  In the longer term, perhaps the Republican Party will see the futility of their “political expedience” and once again stand for morality, freedom and fiscal responsibility.

Until then, the Republican establishment shouldn’t count on conservatives and Christians.
