You will recall former Governor Mike Rounds’ cabinet member Richard Benda.

He allegedly killed himself by shooting himself in the stomach with a shotgun prior to a pending investigation and arrest related to former Governor, now Senator Rounds EB5 program.

Now, Bob Mercer ties the former Governor to Scott Westerhuis.

Westerhuis was involved in another multi-million dollar government program.  It appears that irregularities and improprieties were surfacing.  Westerhuis is now dead from a shotgun blast, along with his wife and four children.  The home was set afire.  This tragedy is being called a murder suicide.

But South Dakota officials are not talking.

This sounds similar to the Benda death.  Information was held close and investigations were suspect in the minds of many watching.  People watching this new scandal/suicide/shotgun murder unfold are skeptical that we are getting the complete story, and perhaps not the ACURATE story.

We may never know what really happened or what motivated this terrible event.  What we do know is that it seems to have its beginnings in a multi-million dollar government program from the administration of former Governor Mike Rounds.

We may never know more than that.
