Saturday’s primaries shows the upward trajectory of Senator Ted Cruz.
Cruz left everyone in the dust in Kansas and Maine. In Kansas, better than 2 to 1 win over Trump (48%-23%) with Rubio a distant 3rd place finish. In Maine, Cruz 46%, Trump 32% and Rubio again well behind with 8% (a 4th place finish).
In Kentucky and Louisiana Cruz was in a near-tie with Trump, 35-31 in Kentucky and 41-38 in Louisiana. Rubio placed 3rd.
The Cruz totals for the day reflect significant gains in momentum. Trump performed below expectations as did Rubio. Kasich continued his low vote march to Ohio.
It might be to early to declare Cruz the nominee, but there are only about 80 delegates that separate him from Trump. It is hard to argue that anyone other than Cruz can beat Trump.
Cruz has now moved significant assets in personnel and resources to Florida. He obviously intends to work toward winning in Florida and other winner-take-all states that are coming up soon.
Cruz also won the CPAC straw poll over Trump and Rubio. 40% Cruz, 30% Rubio and 15% Trump.
If you are Rubio or Trump, you have to be worried about Cruz.
Ted Cruz had a very good day.
