Disingenuous Donald

Trump boasts that he is “self funding ” his campaign.

That would leave the impression he is contributing and spending his own money.

One of his favorite slanderous attack lines is accusing others of being liars.  Senator Cruz may have most accurately described Trump when he said, “Donald has a tenuous relationship with the truth.”

Here’s the REAL story on Trump’s “self-funded” campaign.

An article written by Paul Heroux (State Representative from Massachusetts) reports that Trump’s recent FEC reports show he has only “contributed” a little over $200,000.00 to his campaign in 2015.  He generously gave another $31,000.00 during the first reporting period of 2016.  So what about all this “self funding”?  The campaign took $6.5 million dollars in contributions in 2015 from other people.  Trump’s report lists over $17 million dollars in debts and loans.  Trump LOANED his campaign about $5 million dollars in the first 2016 reporting period.  An additional $12 million in debt and loans would presumably be “self funded” by more Trump loans to the campaign.

The Trump definition of “self funding” is not GIVING.  His definition is LOANING.  That has a significantly different meaning than giving.  A loan is made with the expectation of repayment.  In this case, if the Trump loans are repayed by future contributions from others, it would mean the campaign was not “self funded” at all.  Clever, but not exactly what we have all been led to believe.  Certainly Trump could make a contribution himself to repay his own loans.  If that were his intentions though, why not just give it in the first place.  It seems clear that he expects to get it back… later.  After this campaign thing is over.  If he were to win it would be no trouble collecting donations to clear up the campaign debt.  If he loses, all hope is not gone.  He can make business “deals” which include a spoken or unspoken requirement to help him retire his campaign “debt” as part of the deal.

It isn’t the only inconsistency in the Trump façade.

Mitt Romney has taken significant heat for suggesting that Donald Trump is a fraud.  He may be right.

At best, Trump is not everything he appears to be.
