Neither of them have any reasonable hope to win 1,237 delegates.

There are only 1,459 delegates remaining.

Rubio would need 1,086 and Kasich 1,183.  Who are they kidding?  The VERY best they can hope for is a contested convention, where neither of them have a real shot at being the nominee.

Cruz would need about 61% (890) of the remaining delegates.  Trump needs 754 delegates, about 54%.  That math is still possible for either of them, but favors Trump significantly with Rubio and Kasich staying in the race.

If stopping Trump from becoming the nominee is the argument for either of them staying in, it is a flawed argument which does not reflect their true motive.  At this point, their staying in becomes more of a stop Cruz effort.  If that’s what they want to do, they are entitled to do it.  Romney making robo calls for the Rubio and Kasich is curious too.  If he were really serious about stopping Trump, wouldn’t he want to narrow the field against him?

There is something afoot here.  The Republican establishment doesn’t want Trump.  That is believable.  What they want, perhaps even less, is a conservative.  In short, it’s their way or the highway.

They will take the Democrat over a conservative.
