Cruz Nails the Current Problem With American Government

Cruz_debate_20160310This clip (below) from last night’s GOP presidential debate encapsulates marvelously the behavior of modern American government that is strangling this once-great nation, and highlights what sets Senator Ted Cruz head-and-shoulders apart from every other candidate in the race.

No other candidate is willing to even come near the sacred cow of Social Security (aka Socialist Security), but Ted Cruz is willing to not only start dealing with its insolvency (that’s the problem with socialist programs–they’re just government Ponzi schemes that eventually run out of other people’s money), but to fundamentally start moving it back toward the kind of free market solution that fits with the U.S. Constitution’s model of limited government.  You can’t get rid of such a prolific and monolithic program overnight (people are too deeply dependent on it), but we have to start moving younger Americans toward private, free-market solutions, and Ted Cruz understands that this moves America back in the direction of what the founders established–what made us the greatest nation in history in the first place.

Like Ronald Reagan, the man he admires, he understands having “smart” people in Washington D.C. won’t fix squat. We already have lots of “smart” people in government right now. Government IS the problem, and as the founders of this nation understood completely: the more government, the less freedom, and the less government, the more freedom. America was designed to be a limited-government nation, and that philosophy of getting government out of the way and the affairs of a free people is what led to the most free and prosperous nation in all of human history.

Indeed, as Cruz states in this clip from the debate, he has already laid out a plan to eliminate five major federal agencies and 25 major programs, saving $500 billion from the federal budget (and restoring incalculable freedom in the process).  Most politicians won’t even come up with a serious plan to do this, and fewer still will even follow through on it, because the special interests come out of the woodwork to whine and scream. Ted Cruz has proven that he will resist that siren call, and he did it by going to Iowa of all places and touting his determination to end the federal ethanol mandate.  Many people thought Cruz was crazy for promoting that in Iowa, but he stuck to his guns…and won the Iowa caucus.  There’s one man you can count on to take on federal corporate welfare, and that’s Ted Cruz.

And as the bonus clip below illustrates, Cruz is ready to limit government in the area of education as well (a responsibility not granted to the federal government under the enumerated powers of Article 1 Section 8).  He calls Common Core the disaster that it is, calls out the federal government for the way it has bribed and coerced the states to join in with it, and resolves to bring that to an end immediately when he is sworn in as president. And like so many areas, Cruz wants to move education toward freedom, toward choice, and toward empowering the people and ending the federal Department of Education that Jimmy Carter created as a reward to the corrupt teacher’s unions who supported him.

John Kasich has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that somewhere along the way, since he rendered admirable service in congress, he has lost his way and sold out to a liberal mindset.  He is nothing more than “Democrat-lite,” and the fact is, reducing the amount of liberal poison that has been making America ill isn’t what we need–we need an END to this liberal poison, and a healthy diet of liberty and limited government–the fuel America was designed to run on.

Marco Rubio has a pretty good record as a conservative, and he should be commended for that.  But frankly, he sold America out on the amnesty issue a few years ago. He didn’t just go along with amesty–he joined with Leftist Democrats to aggressively hard-sell amnesty to the American people.  That is unforgivable, short of a humble, pleading apology on Rubio’s part–and I haven’t heard anything close to the contrition necessary to forgive that betrayal.  Apparently neither have the rest of the American people, or he’d be doing better than he is.

Donald Trump is nothing but a Democrat-with-an-“R” after his name. His record proves it beyond a shadow of a doubt. From the huge amounts of money donated to the Leftist politicians who have been bent on this country’s destruction as we know it, to his support for abortion, to his support for the homosexual agenda, to his coziness with illegal immigration and exploitation of it as a businessman, to his Leftist-esque condemnation of the Iraq War and the war on terrorism, and his regurgitation of Leftist propaganda, he is not in the same universe as conservative solutions. Donald Trump is, at best, the typical RINO: behaves liberally, then when he runs for office and wants your vote, talks conservatively.  I’m sorry (actually, I’m not sorry at all), but only a complete idiot believes a person who talks one way and behaves another.  Donald Trump’s behavior when he wasn’t looking for your vote was that of a liberal; don’t be an idiot and believe that he’s a conservative who’ll “make America great” now.

Only Ted Cruz has a consistent record of fighting for conservative principles. From his childhood when he memorized the U.S. Constitution, to his time at the Federal Trade Commission working for limited government and free market principles, to his time as Solicitor General of Texas where he developed the most successful record in history of defending freedom before the U.S. Supreme Court (including the first liberty, religious liberty), to his record in the U.S. Senate where he has fought even the liberal slugs in his own party, calling them out as the liars they are, Ted Cruz has PROVEN that he will stand for the values that made America great in the first place.

Ted Cruz is the ONLY presidential candidate we can trust to turn this nation back from the abyss of Leftist mediocrity and decay over which we now hang. We can trust him, because unlike every one of his competitors in both major parties, his record PROVES we can trust him to get the job done.
