Fear The Beginning, Not The End

It is appointed unto men, once to die.

It is natural for man to hang on to life.  It’s a precious gift.  I’m reminded of the line from a song, “Everybody wants to go to Heaven, but nobody wants to die.”

Why are people afraid of death?

It seems so final from our natural perspective.  It is part of our adventure that strikes fear in the hearts of men.  Until, that is, they reconcile with Christ.  Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, removes the fear and sting of death for believers.

Years ago when I drove past a cemetery in the winter, I could hardly bear the though of being placed in the cold, hard ground after I died.  When I accepted Jesus as my personal Savior and yielded my life to him, that fear simply disappeared.

Death is not really the end.  It is the launching of man into eternity.

God gave us life.  We are eternal beings who will live forever.  We do not get to choose.  What we CAN choose is where we spend eternity.  Eternity is a LONG time.  Heaven or Hell… we get to choose.  There is no way out.  Hank Williams wrote a song titled, “I’ll never get out of this world alive.”  Actually, we will ONLY get out of this world alive.  Death isn’t the end, its the beginning.  Thankfully, when we make Jesus the Lord of our lives in THIS life, we have no reason to fear the next.

My prayer for you is that you make your eternal destination certain  today.

Without Christ, we should not fear the end.  We should fear the BEGINNING.
