GOP Elite Will Save Themselves by Supporting Hillary

Political machines are about power and money, what most people strive for if they can.  Supporting reform candidates for president like Trump and Cruz and Sanders threatens relationships and accustomed privilege.  If elected, old team members might not be chosen to serve again.  Recent GOP history has favored sticking with likely-to-lose mainstream moderates, keeping lesser careers on track throughout the system.

       Strategists of both parties have long known that the general public has been led toward values that are liberal, or “open to new behavior or opinions and willing to discard traditional values,” as the online dictionary defines the word.  North Carolina must have thought that its common-sense defense of bathroom privileges would benefit from millions years of unchallenged interpretation in human history.

      But new cultural powers brokers, like the media and entertainment industries, quickly asserted control, along with radicalized executive and judicial branches.   Rock concerts are cancelled.  Computer companies pull out.  The federal government threatens to withhold IRS-collected state funds to education.

     Conservatives and liberals look alike these days, having finally reached across the aisle to embrace a common expediency: don’t upset lucrative political applecarts.  It’s all about getting reelected and spending twice as much time fundraising on the phone than attending to congressional duties, many hours each day.

     Let secularism flourish and Judeo-Christianity will eventually fade away or make itself over.   The 24/7 media will make sure that even GOP voters become closet liberals.  Same with all members of protected classes—especially minorities and women—who are guaranteed to be exempt from criticism or inspection. Peace-and-justice voter allegiance can be as shallowly embedded as campaign signs on the front lawn, but that’s all it takes.

      With Hillary in power, the GOP elite will continue undisturbed.  Partnering with Democratic elites will help keep the fecund Civil Rights revolution moving toward a utopia free from outdated cultural heritage and old-fashioned moral restraints.
