Two Directions

As my age increases so does my sense of amusement at the world around me.

I do not need to watch a soap opera on TV. For me a quick glance at newspaper headlines and watching the people scurrying about says it all. The world is looking for direction while overlooking the most obvious answer.

The answer I speak of lies in the age old tradition of a cornerstone. A stone placed to bind two directions and hold the foundation together. A foundation properly placed in our lives that would give us meaning and purpose. That would direct this life and point us to the next.

Scripture speaks of this cornerstone in Isaiah 28:16. In Zion, our spiritual Kingdom, we will find this source of direction. This source is none other than Christ Himself as Peter shares with us 1 Peter 2:6-8. If Christ is TRULY the cornerstone of our lives life is good. If not as many are discovering they will stumble (vs. 8). Today many in the world have pushed Christ aside and are stumbling through life as a result.

The two directions in this life are to reject Christ (or at best make Him subservient to our other personal gods) as Psalm 118:22 tells us, or accept Him and be fulfilled (Acts 4:11). TWO DIRECTIONS from which we each must choose. Choose wisely.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY: Christ is the cornerstone that helps cement all life together.

DEVOTIONAL VERSE FOR TODAY: Psalm 118:22 “Christ is the chief cornerstone rejected by many”.

PRAYER FOR TODAY: Christ in You I find the direction I need in life.

QUESTIONS TO THINK ABOUT:

  1. Who or what is the cornerstone of your life?
  2. Why does the world seem to be in a state of confusion?
  3. What has brought the world to this point?
  4. What examples of cornerstones do we have in life?
