Political Accountability

I had a dream.

Image result for accountability

South Dakota Senators Thune and Rounds were seated before a large crowd of citizens.  They were not particularly happy to be at this meeting.  It was set up like a court room, and each of them were about to be sworn in to testify and be cross-examined.

This large crowd of citizens were not very happy either.  They came prepared to ask questions… and get honest answers about the performance of these two Senators.  There were a lot of questions.

The meeting was orderly, and questions were respectful, but very direct and focused.  No time was given for “political statements” either from the Senators or those asking questions.  This meeting was designed to hold the Senators accountable for their actions, votes and performance while in public office.

How did I know it was a dream?

Both Senators showed up for the meeting.

Oh…..such a disappointing ending. I thought is was real for a second and was getting excited hearing verbal exchange. Anyway how can we get this dream to come true?

I think there would have to be such a large outcry and demand that these two would have no other choice but to face the voters. It doesn’t seem likely at this point!
