Scientists are working to develop human-animal embryos.

Do you find that a little unsettling?

They call them “chimeras”.  That alone bothers me.  NPR did an informative report this year on the subject.  In order for these “chimeras” to develop “human” organs, they are surgically implanted into the womb of pigs.  Call me closed minded, but that bothers me too.

It’s all being done in the name of science.  The scientists offer this as their attempt to reassure and justify their efforts, “We’re doing this for a biomedical purpose.”

Where does it end?  We have seen the redefinition of marriage as being between one man and one woman.  This redefinition has opened the door for men to marry men and women to marry women.  Some have now “married” themselves.  Others have married animals, children and trees.  The new normal is “equal rights” for everyone… and everything.

Some of us could have never imagined our present world reality.  Does the future hold animal-humans with “equal rights”?  One can only wonder.

It all reminds me of the story about the Tower of Babel.  The conversation in Heaven revealed that “nothing would be impossible” for these people who were unified in this purpose.  The reaction from God was to intervene.  Apparently, the tolerance and patience of God has limits.  My imagination sees another intervention in the making.

Perhaps, the victorious return of Jesus.
