Justice in America has been perverted.

On one side, the scale is tilted to selective prosecutorial overreach.  South Dakota serves as a glaring example.  Attorney General, now candidate for Governor, Marty Jackley (Republican) put a notch in his gun by successfully prosecuting Bosworth for multiple felonies.  As a convicted felon, Bosworth also lost her license to practice medicine.  Her “crime”… signing that she had witnessed several signatures on her nominating petitions that she had not actually witnessed.    Bosworth dared to challenge former Governor Mike Rounds for a US Senate seat.  Rounds, himself, managed to avoid any consequence for the EB5 scandal during his administration.  It may not matter to most people that Rounds appointed Jackley to the position of Attorney General.  It also may not matter to most people that others who did the same thing were not prosecuted.  At the very least, it is fair to say that the punishment did not fit the “crime”.

On the flip side, the evidence supports the fact that Hillary Clinton lied repeatedly to the FBI and the American people, compromised National security and is head-over-heals involved in the pay to play scandal involving the Clinton Foundation.  This only scratches the surface.  Despite her deception and gross negligence, the Justice Department is not prosecuting her and the FBI does not recommend prosecution.  Clinton, instead, is a prominent candidate for President of the United States.

Anyone who does not see the injustice when comparing these two cases isn’t honesty looking.  There isn’t anything new about these two cases  It just demonstrates the disparity in our justice system.  If you are rich enough and powerful enough, you can avoid accountability and prosecution.  If you are a newcomer to politics, or challenge someone who IS rich and powerful, you may pay for it in a big way.  It also demonstrates that you can become a hero if you choose to over prosecute someone who isn’t a friend of the rich and powerful.

Maybe Bosworth should have run for President.

Note:  Currently, Bosworth holds on to her medical license by a thread pending an appeal to the Supreme Court.  The Supreme Court is expected to rule later this year whether Jackley abused his power by using felonies instead of misdemeanors.  The court will decide if SD law recommends misdemeanor charges, which would not have placed Bosworth’s license in jeopardy.
