Let the bidding begin!

Donald Trump has announced his newest entitlement program, six weeks paid leave for women having a baby.  Hillary Clinton has an even “better” plan.  She is promising TWELVE weeks paid leave.  I like to call them different versions of the new “Affordable Pregnancy Leave Act”.  We all know how well the Affordable Care Act has worked for America.

Some kind of paid leave for a new mother is a great idea.  The problem is that it shouldn’t be a new entitlement program.  Soon to follow would be paid leave for gender change surgery and God only knows what else.  Regardless, it’s a flawed idea if the government pays for and administers it.

A  better plan would be to scrap the Affordable Care Act and eliminate government regulations that hamstring small businesses.  At that point, perhaps some kind of incentive plan for businesses that provide paid pregnancy leave.  But I digress…

The contest for “buying” the American electorate is in full swing.
