It sounds too crazy to be true!
But true, it is!
Another, yes another, continuing resolution to increase government spending. This CR will provide funding for government spending through December 9, 2016. One of the problems is that it doesn’t say for what or how much… because it isn’t even written yet.
I am sure they will argue that it was “Just a procedural vote”. I’m sorry. Votes DO MATTER! While Senators Thune and Rounds were voting in favor of moving this UNWRITTEN bill forward, there were seven other Senators who stood their ground and voted no. Here is the recorded vote.
While South Dakota’s two Senators are busy arguing that this is nothing more than a “procedural vote”, let me encourage you to consider how they have voted on previous spending bills. This vote sets the stage for a (yet unwritten) spending resolution that will no doubt… once again… increase Congressional spending.

While Harry Reid and Mitch McConnell steer this unwritten bill through the Senate, we have no idea what it will fund. Neither do they. One thing is most certain, it is irresponsible to say the least, to advance ANY piece of legislation that isn’t even written. Need I remind you of ObamaCare? Nancy Pelosi’s infamous assertion that “We need to pass the bill to find out what is in it” is a painfully accurate insight into how out of touch with reality the Congress really is. That is simply the way the Senate does business.
Those who were abhorred by Pelosi’s comment then, should be abhorred by Thune and Rounds (and most of the rest of the Republican Senate caucus) vote now.
