It will soon be over.

The election for President, that is.

Let’s hope it’s not “over” for America.  There is little question that this is a pivotal election.  If Clinton wins the White house and Democrats win the Senate the decline of our country seems eminent.  Regardless of who wins, the business of steering this nation into the future will begin again.  One of the most disturbing Presidential campaigns of all time will soon be history.

What next?

I invested six years of my life in the South Dakota state Legislature.  When I served in the House and the Senate, I hoped to make a positive difference.  After that experience, and a short-lived campaign for Governor, and later US Senate I wonder just how much positive difference I really made.  The political corruption, deceit and misdirection continues, despite anything I did.  It is reasonable to ask, will it change now… regardless of who wins the White House.

The right person in a position of political power can make a difference.  Getting there is quite another thing.  The deck is stacked in favor of those who will “play the game”.  Still, there are plenty of good people with a strong moral compass who want to have a positive impact.  Where do they go?  What can they do?  How can they make a positive contribution?

It may have to be outside of the political arena.
