Words That Kill

Sticks and stones can break my bones…

… but words can never hurt me.

I grew up hearing that lie.  Yes, it’s a BIG lie.  Words can be very hurtful.

Scripture places a high importance on words.  Mathew 12:36 says we will have to give account for every idle word spoken.  Proverbs 18:21 tells us that “Life and death are in the power of the tongue”.

Your words can produce life… or death.

What you say to others can lift them up or destroy them… AND you will be held accountable for it.

Even more important, might be what you say to YOURSELF.  If your “self talk” is negative, you will live unhappily, unfulfilled and defeated.  You can change that (literally) by finding out who God says you are, what He says you can do and how valuable you are to Him.  It will take some time and effort, but you can transform your life regardless of what others may be speaking to you.

You are NOT who other people say you are.  You are who GOD says you are.

You will also discover that you become much more positive in your thoughts and words toward others.  That’s a win-win deal.

It’s a wise investment.
