Decline Is Irreversible in Public Education without Discipline

Parents at home instinctively practice zero-tolerance strategies. Like most values, discipline must be cultivated early in childhood.  Consistency and firmness must be administered before bad habits sink in.  Even rich liberals know that public schools are breeding grounds for troubled youth.  Politicians who maintain homes in Washington, DC, are the first to chose private and parochial academies.  It’s all but unanimous.

I’m heartened to know that progressive parents everywhere exhibit a latent urge to protect their own children from ruffians in what amount to giant daycare centers where personal survival is more important than traditional learning.  Woe to diehard liberal parents who over-shelter snowflake personalities in their kids, then send them off to public schools where rules of educational engagement are little more than schemes for social engineering.

Whatever the reason, successful parents prefer parochial schools even if they aren’t religious.  After all, it hasn’t been that long ago that almost all education was administered by churches, century after century, including universities.  There has been none better than the Catholic church during the Dark Ages and beyond.  Protestants finally joined in.  The reputations of Ivy League colleges were made before the takeover by secularists and the national state.

Much is made of combatting cyber-type bullies, but these aren’t the norm.  Unfortunately, the perps are usually forced to be in school and have little desire to learn.  They are resentful of the educational mission.  Often coming from socially protected groups, they can’t easily be disciplined, so school policies can’t be enforced very well.

The following email-forwarded poster humorously reminds us of a past when learning and discipline went hand in hand:

Regarding the final graphic, a friend emailed to say “And they were in MORE trouble when they got home!” Yes, all parents should homeschool the concept of discipline.
