It is past time.

Senator John McCain is fighting brain cancer, and has not been a functioning member of the US Senate for some time.  The probability of him ever returning as a working Senator is very slim, indeed.  Even if there is some small hope for his recovery, in this present time he is unable to carry out his duties.

At a time so critical as this, he should resign.  It would be the responsible, patriotic thing to do.

Filing a vacancy in this Senate seat would fall to the Governor of Arizona, Republican Doug Ducey.

Whether you are a McCain fan or not, the reality that he should be replaced has to be faced.  Better sooner than later.  One would have to believe that discussions are taking place at some level to replace McCain.  With the monumentally important pending Senate vote on Trump’s Supreme Court pick, the significance of every vote is only amplified.

Many have had issues with McCain on policy and politics.  Few have questioned his patriotism.  Now is THE time when he can, better than ever, demonstrate his love of country.  If he is able.  If he is not, those close to him should take the steps needed to facilitate his resignation, in the spirit of his patriotism.  We wish him well, and certainly do not wish to use his health against him in any way.  We just believe it is critical for the welfare of our nation that he step aside.

He can’t do the job.  He should leave.
