Jeff Sessions: AWOL

Where is AG Sessions?

AND… what is he doing?

Almost as soon as he took office, Sessions recused himself.  One would have to wonder, is there ANYTHING he didn’t recuse himself from.  To be fair, he certainly must be showing up for work and shuffling papers.  It is just not clear that he is actually functioning in any official capacity.

A few things are pretty obvious:  He is allowing others to prosecute and harass President Trump on every conceivable level.  Absent the inquiry from Congress, nothing is being done to investigate the breaches of integrity or criminal activities of the FBI and the DOJ.  The Clinton cartel has been given a ‘get out of jail free’ card.

Of late, calls for the removal of Sessions have grown louder.  There is some back-channel rumbling that the President may actually fire him.  As unlikely as that may be in a normal political environment, it is fair to say that this is anything but a normal political environment.  If he were more concerned with justice than keeping his position, he should resign… or finally get to work!

Sessions came to the job with strong conservative credentials.  He was also one of the earliest supporters of then-candidate Trump.  What happened the minute he became Attorney General is a mystery to most people.

The DOJ and the FBI needs a serious house cleaning.  That would require an Attorney General who would take action regardless of the political fallout on either side of the isle.

Jeff Sessions is not that person.

That line of thinking is one possibility. The other, which I find more likely, is that there was actually enough indication of criminal behavior to merit full investigation. The number of convictions and pleas to date indicate that this is so.

True Gordon. If Trump put in someone like Trey Gowdy anything he did would be seen as partisan too. Trump is in a box he can’t get out of and can’t win. Imagine that, the good old boys will ultimately out fox him if the people don’t keep his back. The people put him in office, the people MUST support him through thick and thin.
