You and I can be instrumental in changing America.
Our vote is a fleeting thing. Once we place our “x” on the ballot, we are done. The rest is up to someone else. We have “delegated” someone else to act on our behalf.
Real power isn’t in the voting booth.
The power of our prayer, however, is a completely different thing. Prayer can change people, places and things. The prayer of Jesus changed people; hearts, limbs, blind eyes. He changed the sea from angry to calm. He withered the fig tree.
Elijah was a man like us. He prayed earnestly that it wouldn’t rain: It didn’t… for three years and six months. He prayed again. It rained.
Jesus delegated that kind of power to us too. We are created in the image of God. Life and death is in the power of our tongue. As believers, the Holy Spirit resides within us, giving us “God-power” to change our world, and the lives of people in it. We have the power.
My prayers are transformational. So are yours. Like Elijah, we have power and authority. Learning how, when and where to use it is a life-long adventure. I’ve discovered that the more time I spend with God, the more powerful my life and prayer becomes. Call me grateful.
Yes, we have the power.
