Watch Out for California Transplants and Ballot Measures on the Way to South Dakota

We’re done for right now with dwelling on statewide initiated measures and constitutional amendments, so it’s a good time to study what’s trending in other states. Chances are that big money and liberal politics elsewhere may already be targeting South Dakota.

Amendment 74 (as above) in Colorado was voted down recently, but not by a large margin. One Colorado city manager that I had a chance to speak with last week said that money-hungry lawyers would keep municipalities mired in lawsuits, stalemating legitimate governance, while soaking up much-needed tax revenue in legal defenses.

He added that what happened with a similar measure in Oregon should be taken into account, but suggested that California transplants to South Dakota may be a greater threat:

“Voters there drink the daily Kool Aid on television promoting leftist political agendas. Sure, there’s always some feel good sentiment or benefit mixed in as bait. Next thing you know they think they’ve freely chosen these trendy liberal ideas. With time, one crazy political thing after another gets passed in California so that even these shallow liberals have had enough. Then they choose to move to other states like South Dakota, where, as citizens, they become advocates of the worst-of-the-worst that political California has to offer, never suspecting how they’re being used.”
